The Forum was established in April 1998 following a meeting of local residents who shared a common concern to ensure that local facilities were improved - against a background of derelict shops and a palpable fear of crime, their focus was on the needs and welfare of the wider community, incorporating improved youth provision and quality of life for the large elderly population.

 

Since its formal inception in October 1998 the Forum has engaged key stakeholders to bring about a positive change in the community. This has led to a number of important initiatives including: a new Community Hub and Library, a major push to improve transport connections with regular bus services now provided for the community. The forum has built up an engagement programme with the community covering topics such as Health and Wellbeing, Community Dementia Information Service, Healthy Activities, and Mental Health.

Meet The Board

 

Though the forum is a democratic member-based organisation, it holds free access public meetings 10 times each year, excluding August and December. In order to function efficiently, a small executive body has been formed to enable decision making to be effective and speedy. The board meets regularly but sometimes it is necessary to convene at short notice to enable decisions to be made which facilitate the efficient working of the organisation.

 

The body set up to do this is called the Executive Committee and it comprises of 6 members elected at the AGM for a 3-year period and 2 of its members stand for re-election every year. No qualifications are necessary, but knowledge of the forum and the work it does, and experience of local issues are 2 of the components required. This format has been in existence since the formation of WDCF in 1998 and works well.

This is the membership form for individuals.

 

Objects of the Charity:

The promotion for the public benefit of urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation (and in particular in Woodhouse and District).

 

Benefits of Membership:

All members have the right to be notified of, attend and vote at any General meeting. At Annual General Meetings, members receive the audited accounts and appoint the auditors for the next financial year, hear the Trustees Reports, accept the retirement of Trustees and vote in the Committee for the following year.

Membership is open to any individual or organisation interested in promoting the objects - applications for membership will be considered by the Charity's Trustees. Membership is terminated if the member gives written notice of resignation, ceases to exist, is removed from the membership by resolution of the Committee or ceases to comply with the conditions of membership. Membership is not transferable.
